Age 71 of Saint Paul Passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Preceded by husband, John W. Dodds. Survived by daughter, Therese of Maplewood, MN; son, Edward (Deana) of Nashville, TN; sister, Joan Hillan Metzler (Ken) of Milltown, WI; nieces, Michelle Metzler, Susan Thompson, Sharon Pladsen. Dorothy lived in St. Paul all of her life. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the State of Minnesota. An active member of the Women of the Loyal Order of the Moose. She was also a lifelong volunteer and advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities. Memorial Service Friday 1 p.m. at BRADSHAW, 1174 Payne Avenue at Rose. Interment, Forest Lawn. 1 Thess 4 & 5

For this we say to you in the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede them who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself shall come down from heaven with commandment and with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God: and the dead who are in God's Chosen One, Jesus, shall rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be taken up together with them in the clouds to meet God's Chosen One, Jesus, into the air: and so shall we be always with the Lord. Therefore, comfort each other with these words.

Brothers and sisters, you don't need us to write to you concerning the times and moments when this shall occur. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord shall so come as a thief in the night. For when they shall say: Peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the birth pangs upon a mother, and they shall not escape. But you, my family, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief. For all you are the children of light and children of the day: we are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do: but let us watch, and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk, are drunk in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breast plate of faith and loving kindness and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God has not appointed us to receive the judgment of wrath: but to the purchasing of our salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us: that, whether we are alive or have passed away, we may live together with him. Knowing this comfort and encourage one another, as you are already doing.
